He was only saved because,by the activity of God, he was regenerated
and enlightened. Did he understand the DoT, no. But he did recognize
Jesus as God, the long promised Messiah, "Immanuel" which Matthew
translates for us, "God with us."
One does not have to believe in the DoT as far as the Spirit. For the
Spirit does not testify of Himself, but of Christ. If one does not
have the testimony of the Spirit, he is yet dead in his sin and
therefore yet blind.
